Visit the photo set 2014: Welsh Castles and Country Houses on Flickr.
Given the last four blog posts, you might have gotten the impression that Wales is full of little steam trains and hiking trails and nothing else. That, of course, is not the case and Robin and I were able to visit a variety of castles, country houses, churches and ruins over our two weeks there, including:
- Bodnant House
- Dolbadarn Castle
- Conwy Castle
- Plas Mawr, Conwy
- Penrhyn Castle
- Plas Newydd, Llanfairpwll
- Bryn Celli Ddu Prehistoric Site
- Harlech Castle
- Brecon Cathedral
- Llanthony Priory
- Priory Church of St Mary, Abergavenny
- Powis Castle
- Plas Newydd, Llangollen
The history of each place was fascinating and on time scales that those of us from North America have a hard time understanding.
These photographs called out for treatment in black and white. Some time ago I purchased a set of Lightroom Develop presets from Craft & Vision by David du Chemin which had a set of warm B&W presets based on the old standard B&W filters of green, yellow, orange and red. These were perfect for the job.
