Robin and I have spent a lot of time in France this summer. Robin spent five weeks in Paris at Le Cordon Bleu school in June/July taking the intensive cuisine course. I visited her a couple of weekends, taking the train on Friday and back on to Amsterdam on Sunday evening. I did spend some time walking around photographing while Robin was in classes.

Then at the end of July, we returned to France for a quick trip. Almost 5 years ago, Robin and I did a road trip while living in the US of over 1800 miles and seven states in a long weekend. We did something almost as crazy: hit five countries (Netherlands, Belgium, France, Luxembourg and Germany) in four days of driving. Stops included:

• Friday : Ghent, then evening at the Chateau de Behen
• Saturday: St Valery, by train to Le Crotoy and back to St Valery, evening at the Chateau de Behen
• Sunday: across the north part of France, Amiens, Cambrai, Chareville, Sedan, into Luxembourg, Arlon, Luxembourg City, evening at Echternach at the Hotel Eden au Lac
• Monday: into Germany, through Belgium and back to Amsterdam

All in all, it was a nice relaxing weekend and a nice way to spend my 50th birthday.
