It had been a while since I had my DSLR out since Robin and I have not been traveling as much as we did when we lived in Europe, The fireworks show on Port Stanley beach for Canada Day gave me a reason to dust my Nikon off and do some shooting.
I did a quick refresher on how to shoot fireworks with this article from National Geographic and hit the beach around 9:45 pm. I took a spot close to the point where the fireworks were being launched and pointed my camera up. I used a slow shutter speed of 1-4 seconds, having the best results with 4 seconds.
Camera: Nikon D7000
Lens: Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6
Focal Length: 18 mm
Exposure: 4 sec at f/11.0
ISO Speed Rating: ISO 100
The show was over in 15 minutes but I managed to shoot about 75 shots during the show. Edited, I was happy with 3 of them with the one above the best of those.
