One of the things my son-in-law Konrad wanted to do over the Christmas holidays was to walk the most southerly part of the Elgin Trail again. He and I did some geocaching along it a year ago. This time Robin and Becky joined us on December 27. While we got some decent snow overnight, the temperature was quite pleasant (-2 degrees C) and it was good to get out and stretch our legs after several days of Christmas meals.
Robin’s investigations uncovered a nice set of waterfalls just downstream of the fish hatchery. We also learned a bit of history of the area including the background behind the fish hatchery pools: they were the water storage for the mill that used to be located here.
