{"id":1623,"date":"2022-05-30T13:06:36","date_gmt":"2022-05-30T17:06:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.stationstudios.ca\/trains\/?p=1623"},"modified":"2024-11-17T11:16:06","modified_gmt":"2024-11-17T16:16:06","slug":"mqr-design-simple","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stationstudios.ca\/trains\/mqr-design-simple\/","title":{"rendered":"MQR Design &#8211; Simplified"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Since I wrote the post &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.stationstudios.ca\/trains\/mqr-design-vignettes\/\">MQR Design by Vignettes<\/a>&#8221; back in 2019, I&#8217;ve given a lot of thought of the time investment needed to make these designs a success. And I&#8217;ve come to the realization that the complexity of construction would mean a year or two of building before I was able to run trains. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So I&#8217;ve decided to pivot to a more simple design that I can complete rather quickly while still working full time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The concept of the layout construction comes from the Family Garden Trains website: <a href=\"https:\/\/familygardentrains.com\/primer\/raised_platform\/raised_platform_grr.htm\">Building a Raised Platform Garden Railroad<\/a>. The final design is based around using Piko R3 radius curves (6&#8242; in diameter), requiring an 8&#8217;x13&#8242; raised platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is a simple loop with one passing siding which would allow one train to run while another train is being prepped.
