2017 marked only the second year since 2002 that Robin and I had been in Canada for Canada Day (July 1). And what a year to be here for since Canada was celebrating its 150th anniversary! \u00a0Every part of the country seemed to go all out to celebrate this year and even little Port Stanley outdid itself.<\/p>\n
On July 1 proper, Port Stanley held a number of events. \u00a0We took in the boat parade in which 20 or so decorated boats paraded up and down the harbour. The boat owners had really got into the spirit and there were flags and moose and Mounties and beavers and red-&-white everywhere. \u00a0I was also impressed with the number of spectators who took in the parade; it had been a long time since I had seen the harbour area of Port that busy. The photo above captures a bit of the spirit of the day.<\/p>\n
