Sitting alongside a dusty back road near Iona Station stands an Inuksuk, a memorial to John Kenneth Galbraith. He was a Canadian-American economist, ambassador and advisor to Presidents. He wrote several books on economics that were bestsellers in the second half of the twentieth century.
He was born along this stretch of Thomson Line in 1908. The memorial was erected in 2003 a few years before Galbraith passed away at the age of 97.
Galbraith was a prolific author and even wrote a book (“The Scotch”) about people and places around the farm where he was born.
