While Robin was visiting family in Ontario, I decided to do something I haven’t done in twenty years: go on a solo trip somewhere. I was certainly spoiled for choice and in the end decided to take the train to Berlin for a three day weekend.

I saw a lot of the city including Checkpoint Charlie, the Wall, Potsdamer Platz, the Brandenburg Gate and the German Technical Museum. I also got two runs in as well, where I was able to combine sightseeing and fitness together in what I call a “tourist run”. The first was around the Landwehr Canal and the second was around the Tiergarten (the main park in downtown Berlin). I finished the second run by running through the Brandenburg Gate and along to Checkpoint Charlie.
