While Konrad and Becky were visiting us, we decided to spend a four-day weekend in Belgium, as they had not been there yet. We booked into the Novotel Grand Place in central Brussels for three nights and did day trips from there.
We arrived on Brussels on a rainy Friday that pretty much kept us on short trips from the hotel to various places in the city center. On Saturday, the sun came out and we spent a glorious day in Brugge. We visited several of the churches and museums and had some good beer and food. On Sunday, we were off to Antwerpen for a visit to the Museum Plantin-Moretus (Robin’s third trip there). We had a good lunch at Het Elfde Gebod. On our last day, we took the city bus tour to the north end of Brussels and walked around the Atomium.
Oh, and here’s the list of beers we enjoyed throughout the trip:
- Westvletern 12 (often voted the best beer in the world and very rare)
- Orval
- Mort Subite Kriek
- Westmalle blonde
- Girardin Kriek
- Girardin Framboise
- Duvel
- Grimbergen blond
- Hoegaarden
- Chimey
- Petrus blonde
- Brugse Zot
- Timmermans Kriek
- Trappist Rochefort
- Heineken (just to calibrate)
Once again, another great trip to Belgium.
Such a great trip!!! So many interesting places to see, so much to learn, and so many beers to taste. Thank you so much, it will never be forgotten!
