Amsterdam Light Festival 2014

The Amsterdam Light Festival has returned for its 2014-2015 run. In the previous years of the festival, we had not taken the Water Colors canal boat tour. But at a dinner out with friends at our favorite restaurant, Seasons, last Saturday, we decided to do the cruise on the Sunday. Our friends, Cindy, Blaine and Peter joined us for the hour and a quarter tour.

Seeing the installations from the water certainly yielded a different experience; in particular, the reflections off the water made the installations seem much bigger. Most impressive for me this year is the installation pictured above: Lightbridge. From the water, Lightbridge fills the eye with moving colour.

Hopefully we’ll get an opportunity to do the walking tour, Illuminade, in January. We are fortunate this year as Illuminade is once again just out our door in the Plantage neighborhood.
